FastVoIP offers cheapest VoIP calls worldwide [Review & Coupon]

By Alok Saboo on April 6th, 2011

Price, quality, and service are the probably the most important factors influencing the choice of a VoIP provider. Providers such as Betamax (e.g., Rynga, Jumblo, SmartVoIP) do reasonably well on price and to some extent on quality, however, their non-existent customer service renders the entire value proposition useless. Blocked accounts, billing disputes, payment issues, and overcharges are far too common in case of Betamax clones to be ignored.

Today, we will look at FastVoIP, a relatively new VoIP service provider that promises to offer all the good things that Betamax offers (cheap international VoIP calls) minus the hassles (lack of customer service). Read on to find out how you can get free international calling credits at FastVoIP.

FastVoIP logo

FastVoIP offers the standard features that we have come to expect from a typical VoIP provider – low cost international calls and text messages. FastVoIP excels at offering these services at en extremely low price point. The following table will illustrate this point:

Country Call Rates (EUR/min) SMS Rates (EUR) Country Call Rates (EUR/min) SMS Rates (EUR)
Australia 0.01 0.04 Bangladesh 0.016 0.04
Brazil 0.02 0.09 Cameroon 0.09 0.04
Canada 0.01 0.09 China 0.007 0.04
Egypt 0.041 0.04 France 0.01 0.09
Germany 0.01 0.07 Ghana 0.13 0.04
Haiti 0.16 0.05 India 0.005 0.04
Nepal 0.07 0.04 Oman 0.1 0.04
Pakistan 0.024 0.04 Russia 0.04 0.04
Saudi Arabia 0.07 0.04 Singapore 0.02 0.04
USA 0.005 0.09 UK 0.005 0.05

These are some of the best rates I have seen, even better than Betamax providers. Just for a comparison, Rynga offers India calling at €0.009 per minute, almost twice as much as FastVoIP. I have not seen crazy rates like these before and I will be surprised if you can find something like this. You can check their call rates table here.

FastVoIP provides SIP support to make calls. You can use the following SIP setting to configure your SIP client (follow our detailed video tutorial on how to configure x-lite soft phone or configure your SIP settings on an ATA).

Domain: fastvoip.com

Proxy: sip.fastvoip.com

Besides SIP support, FastVoIP also provides local access numbers in over 60 countries for an easy way to make calls from any landline of mobile phone. Local access numbers are currently available in:

Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium , Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France , Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy , Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Venezuela, Vietnam

Thus, you can use FastVoIP as an international calling card provider. Unfortunately, at this point, FastVoIP does not provide PIN-less dialing, so you will have to enter your card number (shown on your dashboard) to make calls. But you can always use the smart dialing trick to save the hassles of entering the PIN manually.

FastVoIP dashboard

FastVoIP offers variety of payment options that will definitely suit your needs.

Fastvoip payment options

While these features are great by themselves, what truly differentiates FastVoIP from other Betamax/Dellmont clones is some level of customer service. Although the support is email-based, I should say that the company is fairly responsive. I was able to get responses to my queries fairly quickly. The company representative mentioned that they deliberately avoided phone-based support to keep the costs low, but indicated that they usually respond in less than 24 hours.

I have been using FastVoIP for a few days now and I am fairly happy with the call quality and the reliability of the service. There is no feedback or echo and I have also not noticed any billing errors.

FastVoIP provides low cost calls with acceptable level of service. Overall, I am satisfied with the service and will suggest that you consider it.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and thanks for bringing it my notice. There was a momentary glitch in the system, which is now taken care of.

Try the coupon again, it should work now :-)

  • fastvoip support

As mentioned by Alok as well, it’s fully working now. Happy calling!

  • Rajiv Ashrav

I just noticed their sms text message tariffs are incrfedibly expensivcve and most of my textmessages arent even delivered. I’ll keep using Nonoh.

  • Ankur

I have been using the service for sometime but not much happy with voice quality. Often had complaints from other end in India that they hear echo. Since there is no local dial in for Singapore I cant even try that. Not sure if others face same issue. I had mailed support team as well they told me to check my setup but that’s working fine..

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Ankur, thanks for your feedback!! I am wondering if the issue is your Internet connectivity, because I did not face such issue (at least so far). Are you able to use other VoIP providers without any issues?

    • fastvoip support

You’ve got mail with detailed instructions how to configure your devices properly so you won’t get echo related issues

      • Ankur

I am using a hi-speed broadband of upto 30 mbps. Its not a connection issue as other services are fine. I am replying to support on email and just for information its not a mic and sound setting issue. Its only issue when I call India.

        • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Did you try the Local Access Number or making calls to any other country?

          • Ankur

There is no local access number for Singapore and I mostly call India only. I think fastvoip is going to refund the credits back. Wanted to use as its dirt cheap but not getting the quality. Any other service which you would recommend.

          • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

That is very nice of FastVoIP to refund the credits back. BTW, which SIP client are you using? Have you looked at MO-Call VoIP service?

          • Ankur

It was nice of them but they didn’t actually refund. They have stopped replying to my email asking for refund :) May be they didnt get enough members from promoting here. Anyways dial91 is much better.. Rates are bit higher but quality is good with excellent customer support…online chat is available all the time. u can call through skype or there softphone or access numbers..

      • Bivek28

i m useing your fastvoip . this service is very bad  because  other party not hearing my  voice . i  m  hearing voice from them.  when i m useing other voip providers they r hearing my voice very good .pl send me my money back

        • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Just to be clear, I am not selling any service. I am just providing information about the various VoIP services out there for your consideration. Having said that, I appreciate your concern and I hope FastVoIP is able to resolve the issues ASAP. Did you try making calls using SIP instead of access number?

  • Naushad ali

hi I am new user of fastvoip, in saudi arabia, but I am not happy with call quality it is so poor other party can’t here me though I am using broadband connection. I am using jumblo too which works fine in my nokia n95 but FV sory to it doesn’t worth anything…
Also if we call by internet call option it shows receipient has incoming call baring..
so i personaly don’t recomend FV, what is the use even u giv cheapest but we cann’t talk.

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

      Thanks for your feedback Naushad.

I agree that price is not the only determinant, we also expect a reasonable level of service. The FastVoIP guys are around and hope they take this into consideration.

  • Gnrs99

    Hi Alok,

I’m usually in total agreement with your opinions about VOIP providers here on our site, but I must admit you appear to have got it all wrong this time around. I am a regular user of Betamax and in a direct comparison in call quality and reliability of the service and phone apps, Betamax is ahead by leaps and bounds – I do sincerely regret signing up for Fastvoip and in effect being forced to use rubbish VOIP service worth 11 Euros. Fastvoip has a LOT of delay (by lot I mean it reminds me of the trunk call days in India – you speak and then wait for the other party to respond). It also deploys one of the tactics deployed by cheap VOIP providers that you stated on your site i.e. charging for calls that never connected..so the meter is running but I can’t hear the called party and vice versa.

Not sure if you’ve had a look at the latest Symbian app from Betamax – certainly Actionvoip and Rynga have it..it works like a charm with GSM like sound quality (even on a 3G connection) and even sends your chosen caller id (subject to verification). Moreover, another user can call you on your mobile for free using your user id.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

    Cheers

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

There are several factors that determine the quality of VoIP calls. For the most part, FastVOIP worked reasonably well for me, however, it is clear that it may not be the case with every one.

Clearly, single user cannot do a holistic testing and we need inputs from several users like yourself to truly assess the quality of a service. This is exactly the kind of feedback that we need so that all of us can make informed choices. Thanks!!

  • Gangs 6016

hiii just now i recharged my account but now am existing user how can i enter that promo code please help me

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

The promo-code can be entered when you add credits to your account.

      • Rajeddah

fastvoip voice quality is not good. hope they improve.

  • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated!!

I personally use FastVoIP on my ATA, so it is certainly possible. Here are the SIP settings that you will have to enter:

    Username: yourusername@fastvoip.com
    Password: yourpassword
    Domain: fastvoip.com
    Proxy: sip.fastvoip.com

Let me know if you need any other details.

    • Bala

      Thanks for the details.

      Which ATA do you use?

Which one do you think one could buy for 20-40$ and configure without much effort?

      • Neha Nuhu

Hi i am a reseller from Oman…. i am using many brands from last 2 years. this is the first time i saw a card with free landline to India. Its really good, But unfortunately, i wish to say that dont take this card even its will give free call to india (MOB & LAnd). cos this a fucking card with very very poor sound clarity………….

  • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

The web account may take some time, but it should be available very soon.

Google voice seems is one option to make unlimited calls to US/Canada for less than $25. Your other option is to use one of the Betamax providers that give you 120 free days to US/Canada.

    • Anonymous

Google Voice is not available in your country….
      thats what i got :(
Betamax provider have some limits in number of calls…I am using rynga, fastvoip..later they start  charging for calls…
something like magic jack..unlimited calls….free fixed yearly package…

      • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Google Voice is restricted to US/Canada. Even Betamax providers have fair usage limits. If you really want “unlimited” calling, I would suggest you have a look at OBi110, which IMO is one of the best ATAs around and allows free calls between OBi’s and has ton of other features.

  • Shara

what is the new promo code which I can use to recharge my account

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

There are currently no promo codes for FastVoIP, but keep an eye and we will have some more very soon.

  • 61aj

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

I was able to FastVoIP guys and apprised them about the issues that you all are facing. They confirmed that they had few issues since last week, but the same will be fixed in the coming week. Let’s hope that the issues are resolved soon. Let me know if you continue to experience problems.

  • Yasyusef

    hi Alok,

I am new user of fastvoip, and i recomended to my frends alo 5/6 frends also. But i am totally disappointed because delay of sound, 5or 6 times i want to try to get connected and each time is charged- actually call is connected but cannot hear on both side.I m not the one have this problem all of my friends complaining same. I tried on 3g mobile, broadband line, using linksys PAP2, USB modem stick, result is same. But if it is connected voice clarity is perfect.
Second issue i noticed when i am using mobile dialer voice is delayed up to 8 second- means i cannot use. But no problem of voice delay if i used in Fring sip setting
When i tried on Linksys most of the time it is connected but no ringing or not hearing anything but call is charged .005 euro.
ANy solution will be there? Also i am disappointed because i m the one recommended to my frends.

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

I can completely understand your situation. I am in a similar position as I was the one who advocated the service in the first place. The service was good in the beginning when I was testing it I admit that the quality has deteriorated since then. I am in touch with the company and they have assured me that things will be back again shortly.

Having said that, I must mention that there is always some risk in choosing less reputed brands. FastVoIP or any other cheap VoIP service provider is able to offer such low rates for some reason. For such services, I always recommend spending the least amount that the provider requires, so that you are not locked in.

  • guest

I am having problem in fast voip…when i call to INDIA the call is connected but other side person couldnt hear me and also I am not able to hear me..only balance goes….can anybody help????…

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Unfortunately, FastVoIP has been facing some quality issues of late and the company is aware of this. I am just hoping that they do something to address the issue.

  • farid

    problem call to fastvoip
0 minute cal india take 3.78 EURO
    what is the problem?
    thank u

  • Newrafaa

FASTVOIP is unreliable and if it works it keeps cutting out. I do not recommend it to anyone . Do not expect any sort of support or help , if I were you I will stay away from this VOIP provider . Do not be foaled by the fancy menus and prsentations.

  • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Indian local access numbers are not allowed by law, so there are no providers that offer local access numbers in India.

  • Browser14

Am using fastvoip since last month, it is ridiculous, first their rate for India was 0.005, then they increased to 0.006. Today i was surprised, the rate increased to 0.009. This is not fair. Other VOIP providers are charging not more than 0.006. Also most of the time when i call, the call is not answered even though the amount is deducted. I have tried all VOIP services, but this is the worst of all.

  • Badal405

I am having problem in fast voip…when i call to bangladesh the call is connected but other side person couldnt hear me and also I am not able to hear me..only balance goes….can anybody help????…

  • RAJENDRA KUMAR

FOR THE LAST 10 DAYS I AM NOT ABLE TO OPEN FAST VOIP. WHEN I DOUBLE CLICK ON THE ICON TO OPEN IT, ONE MESSAGE IS COMING THAT ” CONNECTING TO REGISTRATION SERVER FAILED”. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO OPEN AND USE IT. I HAVE 7.85 EURO BALANCE.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Aftar7 Aftar Hussain Chowdhury

Fastvoip is a big cheater, they provide call rate euro 0.004/min. But now it increase to euro 0.009/min. Also cancelled free calls to Landphone.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Aftar7 Aftar Hussain Chowdhury

Fastvoip is a big cheater!!!!!!, Their call rates to India was 0.005 Euro/min, but before 15 days they increased to 0.006 Euro/min. And now it is 0.009 Euro/min. Also cancelled free calls to Indian Land phone.

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Just to be fair, VoIP providers continuously change rates they charge for various destinations, depending on what their suppliers charge them. Betamax providers (e.g., Jumblo, Rynga) have been doing the same for years now. So, change in rates is not equivalent to cheating. They explicitly mention the same in their terms and conditions.

  • Ajimanjayil

very bad service ,still i cannot make a call from fastvoip, when i complient there is no responce from there.i top up 10 euro that is gone.

  • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

If FastVoIP did not live up to your expectations, I would suggest that you try some other provider. Unfortunately, there is no sure fix to all the problems that you (and others) are facing. I have faced similar issues and this is often a result of the provider using some cheap routes to terminate calls. So unless FastVoIP changes the routes, there is little that we can do. That said, I have had better experience using a SIP softphone (e.g., x-lite) than using the local access number.

    • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo

Were you able to use it in the past? Have you changed your ISP recently?

  • http://truvoipbuzz.com Alok Saboo
