GVMax – Most comprehensive Google Voice Notification system [Tutorial]

I already have published some tutorials on how to Push Google Voice notifications to iPhone (or read here). While they all were great, today I will introduce the most comprehensive Google Voice notification system – GVMax.

GVMax is a great service developed by Hani (as a hobby). While GVMax has always been a great service, it has taken a huge leap in its latest avatar. Step 1: Setting up a GVMax Account

Getting started with GVMax is extremely simple. Just visit the sign-up page and enter the details. Please note that you have two options while creating your account:

1. You could provide your Google Voice credentials. In this case, GVMax will automatically set up the filter in your Gmail account for you so that you are ready to go immediately.
   
2. In case, you do not want to reveal your Google account credentials, you can just create an account without doing so. In this case, you will have to create the filter yourself. You can find detailed instructions on how to create the right filter here.
   
3. That’s it, now you are ready to dive in to GVMax and explore the great options that it has.

Step 2: Getting Started with GVMax

Using GVMax is extremely easy!! Once you have created your account, you will land up on your account page. Here, you will see all the details like the Google Voice account, your forwarding email, API key, logs, monitors, and the notifiers on your account.

By default, GVMax monitors both SMS and VoiceMail notifications. You can change what notifications that you need to monitor by clicking the Change button against the Active Monitors.

The real power of GVMax lies in the notification screen. Click the Change button against Active Notifiers and you will be presented with the options that you have.

As you can see, you can send the notifications to your GTalk instant messenger, iPhone using Prowl, email address, Twitter, and other mobile number as SMS.

To push the notifications you need to set up Prowl on your iPhone and enter the Prowl API key. You can refer to our detailed tutorial to setup Prowl on your iPhone. The other options are self-explanatory.

Conclusion

I have tested GVMax for a while now and am extremely happy with its performance. There is almost no delay in the notifications. Moreover, GVMax also strips the message so that there are no superfluous characters and the message that you receive is exactly what was sent.

There you have another way to receive unlimited text messages (SMS) on your iPhone without paying a dime to your carrier.
