MagicJack offers Free Conference calls [Review]

Conference calls are usually very expensive, especially when you have more than 2 participants. Today, I will present a great alternative to make free conference calls – yes FREE CONFERENCE CALLS. This service is provided by MagicJack. Here’s a step by step guide on how to get started with your free conference calls:

  1. First step is to create your conference room. Dial 305-848-8888 and then Press 2 to create your room. Enter a 3 digit PIN number to create your conference room number.  Your conference number is the three digit PIN followed by the last 7 digits of the number that you called from.
  2. Circulate the conference number to the participants.
  3. At the time of the conference, all the participants need need to dial the same number 305-848-8888 and then Press 1 to join an existing conference and then enter the conference room number (the one you created in step 1).
  4. That’s it!!

Just to clarify some confusion about the service. You do not have to be a Magicjack subscriber to use the free conference service. There was some confusion about the number of conference rooms that it can handle. People assumed that because there is a three digit PIN, you can have only 999 conference rooms at any point of time. This is simply not true, the PIN number is appended to your phone number (from where you create the conference room). Thus, the number of rooms that the MagicJack can handle is theoretically HUGE. There are some concerns about the quality of service, but you cannot really complaint about FREE stuff.

I tested the service and was quite happy with the quality. There was no noticeable delay or feedback in the voice. Although there are no fancy features like call logging, recording, lecture mode, muting, etc., it is a nice option for a plain vanilla conference service. I would recommend you all to give MagicJackConference a try and share your experiences.

  • I'll post the same information to my blog, thanks for ideas and great article.
  • Thanks..but please link back to the source and do not copy the article verbatim :)
  • Yeah, this is another great use for the magic jack! I really think that the company behind MJ (Ymax) has it's strategies down pat. They seem to keep upping the bar. To me, they've definitely claimed the VOIP service market. It'll take a monster to buck them off.
