Never pay for Local Cell Phone Minutes – Zenofon offers Ultimate Network Bridge [Tips]

Why do you need this?

I’m sure you all know that local minutes are expensive. AT&T charges $0.45 per minute for every additional minute beyond your plan. This forces you to change your calling pattern, like calling after 9pm or on weekends, etc.

Things to keep in mind:

Please note that most carriers allow free calls within their networks, i.e. AT&T to AT&T. Your mobile phone carriers’ billing system works as follows. When you receive a call, the number from where you receive the call is checked for in-network calls. If the number that you are receiving the call from is from the same network, you are not charged for the call. The same logic applies when you are making a call.

Zenofon provides the ultimate hack to enable you to work around this system, so and even the other party are never charged for your local minutes. This is true genius!!! Here’s a step by step guide to use the system:

1. Open a Zenofon account, if you do not have one already. Read till the end, to find out how you can win free international calling credits.
2. When you setup your account, you have an option to enter a Callback Call-ID. You can reach here from the Setup tab and then by clicking Your Originating Numbers. This is the number from which you will receive call back on your phone. You can enter any number from which you can receive free calls (usually from the same carrier). Just follow the process, you will understand everything slowly.
3. Next, you can enter the number of the party that you need to call in your Zenofon phone book and get a local calling number for the person. When you are creating a contact in your address book, you have an option to specify a Caller-ID number. You can leave it blank, that will send your number as the caller ID.

Now you are all set to make calls!! All you need to do is dial the local number assigned for the person you want to reach. But instead of completing the call, hang-up your call when you hear two short beeps. If you hang-up after the short beeps, Zenofon will call you back with the number you chose earlier (in step 2), and then call your contact. If you do not hang up after the short beeps, the call will be completed as a regular call, i.e. you will pay for the local leg as well. Since the number that you chose in step 2 is from within your network, your local leg is free.

If the other person is charged for receiving calls, you can extend this hack so that the other person is also not charged for receiving calls. All you need to do is specify a number in the Caller-ID field (step 3) from where the called party can receive calls for free.

Just to emphasize the importance of this hack, imagine that you are on AT&T and the other person is on Verizon. Without using this hack, both of you will pay for local cell phone minutes. But if you use this hack and enter another AT&T number in the Callback-ID (step 2) and a Verizon number in the Caller-ID fields (step 3) and make the call as mentioned above, you will receive a call from the AT&T number that you enter and the other person will receive a call from the Verizon number and Zenofon will complete the call so that no one pays for local cell phone charges.
