Simple!
Just to satisfy your curiosity, the people providing this service make money because they are passed along a small margin from BT. It's as simple as that.

Special Instructions for Calling from Mobiles
Dialing manually as per instructions above always works. However, If you are calling from a mobile phone, you should dial the relevant access number, then, insert a pause (instructions on inserting pause given below) and then enter the “00” country code and number. After connecting to the access number, the destination number will be sent and after approx 30-35 seconds you will be connected to the destination number. However, this method does not always work (most times it works) in which case you should simply use the manual dial method.

Even Freedomcalls has stopped the landline numbers, so there is no difference. The SMS topup does not work. So for the user, there is nothing much to choose between the two. It would be wonderful, if any one of you could get the landline numbers back...

Freedomcalls has also stopped their 1-800-086-445 access number which was as good as all above 6 Landline access numbers in every respect. I contacted Sonya of Freedomcalls through their online live support chat. She told me that all above 6 Landline numbers and 1-800 access numbers were promotional offers. They are now ended and are not offered any more.

I called all the above 6 Australian landline numbers today from Canada through the Smartvoip access number in Toronto using my phone connected to ATA/internet. All of them are only ringing and their system does not pick-up my incoming call, and hence the instructions don't come up to listen/follow in order to further dial the outgoing free country destinations. I guess their "limited" time offer is over. I didn't try their Cell numbers as calling them is expensive through Smartvoip? Can anybody confirm that freedomcalls's above land lines numbers are still working? Thank you.

Good post but don't abuse it (ie. point your call center PBX to this system, or wardial Latvia). A lot of companies have run into trouble providing limited time offers like this.

I agree, we must use the service cautiously so as to not abuse the system and loose the benefit forever. Thanks for pointing it out!!
