If you are a proud owner of the Apple iPhone (any generation), then you are in luck!! Today, I am going to explain you how you can make unlimited free calls to USA and Canada from your iPhone. This article adds to our mobile VoIP (mVoIP) series.

What do you need: You only need an iPhone (not necessarily a jailbroken one), any generation would work and a good internet connection. Theoretically this could work on the 3G/EDGE network, but I have tested it on wifi and it works like a charm. If you have these, then you are ready to roll…
- Download the iCall iPhone app from the app store (opens iTunes). It is FREE (wow!!!)
- You may need to authenticate yourself to create an account on iCall. Follow the steps to create an account and then login.
- That’s it!!!
Now use the dialer to make unlimited free calls to USA and Canada. Remember, you need to dial the number in the international format, i.e. 001 (888) 888-8888. The screen shots will make things clear…

The good thing about the iCall application is that it can use your contacts directly. So just save the contact in your address book and you do not even have to manually dial the number.
In my tests, the call quality was more than acceptable. It obviously depends on the quality of your internet connection. The best part of the applications is that you need not be in the USA to use this, you can use this from anywhere across the globe.
Of course, if you need to make calls outside the USA/Canada, you need to buy credits. The rates for other countries can be found here.
So now you can put the iPhone to some “real” use and make unlimited free calls to USA and Canada from anywhere across the world!!!
If you do not have the iPhone, don’t worry!! You could use one of the methods described earlier to make unlimited free international calls.

As the post suggests, you need to download the iCall app on your iPhone/iPod to make free calls. If you do not have an iPhone/iPod, you will not be able to use iCal. HOwever, you can use other methods (just search) to make free calls

hello..
My name is Almog and im from israel.. when I try to make an account the app wants me to call to an u.s number.. and i can't, because it is not let me to choose 001 before the number..
what can I do?
Just dial without the 001. Since, you can make free calls to only USA and Canada, I am assuming they have got rid of the 001.
Let me know if it still does not work.
